Bajra no rotlo /Pearl millet flat bread

Whenever I go home to stay with my parents, my mom  always makes millet flat bread / Bajra no rotlo / Bajra paratha for breakfast. Its so simple and so yummy I can have it any time of the day. It requires no oil to cook it just 2 ingredients and thats it!. Bajra is mainly made of starch, a high-energy food. Bajra contains niacin, a vitamin that plays a crucial role in lowering cholesterol levels , it is also rich in fiber and aids in digestion.Several studies have suggested that bajra has cancer-protecting properties. A study showed that regular intake of bajra protects pre-menopausal women from developing breast cancer. Partly, this property has been attributed to the presence of lignin in the grains.Not only does bajra lower the risk of development of diabetes in healthy individuals but also increases insulin sensitivity, making it a suitable cereal option for those who are diabetic

INGREDIENTS

Bajra / Pearl Millet – 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Butter / Ghee – 1/2 tsp
Cream / Malai – 1 tsp
Water as required

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. heat water and add salt. 
  2. add the bajra flour knead into a smooth dough.
  3. if the dough becomes sticky add more flour. if the dough is dry, then add some water.
  4. meanwhile heat a pan. 
  5. make a round flat bread with your hand
  6. cook both sides
  7. apply ghee on one side.serve bajra roti hot or warm with malai/cream.
