Mirchi Bhajji / Potato Stuffed Pepper fritters

My 65th post is an all time favourite tea time snack – mirchi bhajji. I had a few of these mirchis left in my fridge from the last time’s pepper fritter wrap so thought why not make these yummy bhajjis, anyways its been a long time since I fried something 😉

So heres a perfectly cool snack for a cold rainy evening.

INGREDIENTS

Peppers – 5
Oil – For frying

For the stuffing

Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds and curry leaves- 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Ginger Garlic paste-  1 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp (adjust per taste)
Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Potatoes – 3 medium (boil, peel and roughly mashed)
Coriander leaves – 2 Tbsp (finely chopped)
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Aamchur powder (dry mango powder)- 1 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp

Batter

Besan (Gram) Flour – 1 Cup
Rice Flour – 1/4 Cup
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Baking Soda – 1/8 tsp
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Red Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves add asafoetida and boiled small cut potatoes.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste,garam masala, aamchur powder,turmeric powder, red chilly powder, salt, coriander powder and mix well.
  3. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add sugar and lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Add fresh chopped coriander leaves and turn of the heat.
  6. wash and pat dry long chillies, make a slit in between vertically and start stuffing.
  7. Meanwhile mix all the ingredients mentioned in the batter section.
  8. Heat oil in a pan, dip stuffed mirchi/pepper in the batter and fry.

Serve it hot with ketchup
