Instant Rava Dosa

So when you are tired and you dont have veggies at home you want a quick fix for your lunch / dinner or breakfast you can try out this recipe for sure.

INGREDIENTS

rava/suji/fine semolina – ½ cup
rice flour – ½ cup
maida/all purpose flour – ¼ cup
green chillies/hari mirch, chopped – 1 to 2
medium sized onion/pyaaz, finely chopped – 1
ginger/adrak, finely chopped – ½ inch
curry leaves/kadi patta, chopped – 8 to 10
chopped coriander leaves, optional – 1 to 2 tbsp
crushed black pepper – ½ tsp
cumin seeds/jeera – ½ tsp
water or as required – 2 to 2.5 cups
salt as required
oil as required

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix rava and rice flour in a bowl
  2. then add 1 or 2 green chilies (chopped), and ½ inch ginger (chopped) fresh corriander leaves and salt as required.
  3. add 2 cups water and mix well till the batter becomes smooth and thin.
  4. Heat a pan add oil as soon as the oil is hot enough add Hing /Asafoetida ,Jeera and curry leaves.
  5. Add this tempering to the batter and mix well.
  6. Spread some oil on the tawa when it is hot enough add chopped onions after that with a ladle pour the dosa batter.
  7.  Fill them lightly with the batter.
  8. when the top side looks cooked, then sprinkle ½ to 1 tsp oil on the top and sides.
  9. spread oil all over the rava dosa with a spoon.
  10. rava dosa takes a little longer time to cook than regular dosa.
  11. cook till the base is golden and crisp.
  12. the more you cook the dosas and the more golden it becomes, the more crisp it will be. you can even cook both the sides if you want.
  13. In case the batter becomes thick after making a few dosas, then add some water and stir again.

Serve the dosa hot with ketchup or coconut chutney
