I distinctly remember my initial hostel days when I used to cook this recipe very often since it didn’t require much efforts and tasted delicious. It is not only healthy but also filling.
INGREDIENTS
- Green peas – 1 cup
- Potatoes – chopped 1 cup
- Sweet corm – 1/2 cup
- Onions – 1/2 cup
- Paneer – 1/2 cup (optional)
- Beans – chopped 1/2 cup
- Cauliflower florets – 1/2 cup
- Biryani rice 1 and 1/2 cup
- 1 cup plain dahi / yogurt.
- Ghee / oil 3 tablespoon
- Garam masala – 2 tablespoon
- chilly powder – 1 tablespoon
- turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- salt as per taste
- water for cooking
- Jeera – 1 tablespoon
- Bay leaf – 2
- Cinnamon stick – 2
- Star anise / Chakra ful – 2
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat oil / ghee in cooker , add jeera , bay leaf , cinnamon stick ,chakra ful , Green peas,Potatoes,paneer ,Sweet corm,Onions,Beans & Cauliflower florets and dahi.
- Mix well and add all the spices red chilly powder , turmeric & garam masala.
- Add the soaked and washed rice and mix well.
- Add salt and water such that water is 1/2 inch more than the content in the cooker.
- Close the cooker and cook for 3 whistles.
- Turn of the gas and let it cool down on its own.
Serve hot with curd.
